Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce

Course Overview

The course is for people working with children and/or young people aged 0-16 years, in a child care setting including a Day Nursery, Pre School, Primary school, Breakfast and After School clubs. Learners will receive practical training from their employer and theory at CTL.  This course can be offered 4 days in nursery and 1 day release to college or 5 days at Nursery and weekly evening tutorials, E-learning or Blended Learning which is a combination of both. Learners will be employed by their setting and earning a wage which is paid by the employer. This is a minimum of £2.50 per hour.

City & Guilds Diploma in Children and Young People‘s Workforce, Key Skills Level 2. Paediatric First Aid

 

Course Content:

The course has Mandatory and optional units. These make up a number of credits. Units include:  Promoting Communication; Engage in Personal Development; Promote Equality and Inclusion; Principles for Implementing Duty of Care; Understand Child and Young Person Development, Promote Child and Young Person Development, Understand How to Safeguard the Wellbeing of Children and Young People, Support Children and Young People's Health and Safety, Develop Positive Relationships with Children, Young People and Others Involved in their Care, Working Together for the Benefit of Children and Young People, Understand How to Support Positive Outcomes for Children and Young People.

 

Entry Requirements:

You must have experience & knowledge of working with children. You must be working in a childcare setting where their work involves children's observations, assessments & planning. You must have the skills & experience of working with children. You may already hold a Level 2 Qualification in Childcare.

 

Work Experience:

Candidates must be working in a child care setting for at least 16 hours per week. Previous experience with children is important if you are doing the Diploma level.

 

Course Assessment:     

Day release to College (once a week), evening classes or E-Learning.  The assessor will come to the workplace and observe the candidate as well as assist in portfolio building and observations.

 

Career Path:

Learners can use this qualification to go into other areas of childcare as well as working their way up into childcare management. Course Length:

Approx 15 – 18 months. This can vary depending on the level of support required for each learner and previous experience.

 

Course Costs:

Fully funded for learners aged up to 19.  Employers of those 19+ may have to contribute to fees.
