| Use of Social Networking sites |
|
The popularity of the internet and social networking sites has created opportunities for individuals to vastly increase their social network. Recent research has also shown that individuals using the internet for social reasons are far more uninhibited than in real life. The internet has created a whole new social network of cyber friends located worldwide and with this has come the increased capacity for and, instance of abuse. If you use social networking sites you must consider your professional standing. Online relationships are no different from relationships off-lineFor some, the anonymity of texting or emailing takes away the human element. Remember that people on line are still real people and you should treat them with the same level of respect as if they were in the room.Be mindful of the fact that you are communicating differentlyWithout using facial expressions and tone of voice, it is easy to misinterpret what is read on screen. For example, WRITING IN CAPITALS could be seen as shouting.
