Learner welfare and support services
All learners who have completed, are working towards or are applying for a training programme at Chiltern Training are entitled to access the Learner Support Service. This service is free to all learners and exists to help you feel safe and enjoy and achieve.

The Chiltern Training Learner Support service includes:

Information:

CTL has access to a wide range of information  including learning and work, occupational information, CV and interview technique handouts as well as information about EMA and applications for university.  This is available from our library, website or speak to any staff member.

Access to confidential and independent careers advice:

A staff member can help you to plan your work and set targets. They can help you to decide which training programme is best suited to you. You can also use our resources to find out about what you might want to do when you have finished your training. We also host careers talks on a variety of topics from midwifery to playwork and teaching.  You can speak with our Curriculum Manager if you are interested in applying for  university courses or about the resources available.  Speak to your Training Coordinator to find out more.  Connexions can also provide a great deal of advice and guidance, also you can contact them on 0845 408 5004

Individual Learning Plans:

You can discuss your Individual Learning Plan with a member of staff at any time. You may also request extra support if you feel this is needed.

Welfare Support:

If you have any personal issues you would like to discuss please contact our Learner Support Worker (Sarah Darsley 0118 9566 995 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Alternatively speak to your Training Coordinator or Tutor.  If we do not have the   expertise to  assist you in house, we can point you in the right direction. We have contacts with experts that can help with issues such as housing, counselling, financial and benefits matters as well as much more.  In the learner lounge (3rd floor) and reflection room (ground floor) you will find up to date leaflets and contact details about a variety of services

Reflection Room:

At our Reading office we have a Reflection Room on the ground floor which is open to learners at any time during office hours.  This room provides a quiet space where you can speak confidentially to a staff member or take some personal time.  Resources in the room include leaflets and contact information for local support services and also a prayer mat for those learners who need to pray during the college day.
