Confidentiality Policy

This policy is used in conjunction with the Data Protection Policy and covers information which is not designated within the Data Protection Act, which states that any organisation which holds personal information on a database, whether on computer or manual records, can reveal information to be registered to individuals only.

CTL acknowledges and upholds an individual’s right to privacy and confidentiality.  The very nature of our business entails working with people on a personal level. Consequently, information of a sensitive nature could easily come to light during interviews, reviews, one-to-one discussions. The most common of these issues include social or learning needs, medical or family issues, or pregnancy. To this end, any information concerning an individual or group of individuals must be treated in strictest confidence and their right to confidentiality upheld at all times.

Staff should be aware that sensitive issues should be discussed with relevant parties.  Any discussion which takes place should be done in a secure location where it will not be overheard by other staff or learners.  No such issues should be discussed out with the nursery or CTL premises.  Any breach of confidentially will be subject to disciplinary action.
